Yoga for Everybody

Zoe Shipley

Zoe discovered yoga in the mid-90s at New York City’s Jivamutki (when it was just a little studio on Second Avenue). She appreciates the discipline of the Ashtanga method equally with the flow and acceptance of Vinyasa. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Shanti Yoga Shala (her home away from home). She is also a certified GroovyKids™ Yoga instructor. Zoe is passionate about helping better the lives of children in whatever way she can. She is a former classroom teacher and a current youth mindfulness educator at several public schools and private practices in New Orleans. She teaches valuable skills that promote self-esteem, empathy, emotional regulation, and learning to live happily in the present moment. She also wholeheartedly believes in the GroovyKids™ yoga method (similar to Vinyasa) and philosophy that “every kid is groovy” and there is no pressure to perform in yoga play is to be free!

Zoe Shipley instructs the following:
  • Vinyasa Flow
  • Traditional Vinyasa Flow class for all levels. The pace is moderate and will challenge you physically with an emphasis on alignment and proper form.

  • You Got This! Restorative Yoga

  • Evening Flow
  • This class is designed to help you finish out your day peacefully. Traditional Vinyasa Flow class paired with a healthy dose of restorative poses, meditation and Shavasana.

  • New Year's Day Restorative Yoga Workshop
  • Start 2018 on the right foot!  Calm the mind and body with this Restorative Yoga workshop.  Dedicate this 2 hours to yourself.  Restorative Yoga poses require no muscular exertion; each pose is held for several minutes and is deeply supported by bolsters, blankets and blocks. Complete muscular relaxation and comfort are emphasized to achieve a quiet state of mind and body. Deep restorative work improves range of motion and joint mobility, while reducing pain and the physical effects of stress on our bodies. Students will leave feeling nourished, rested and refreshed. Guided Mindfulness Meditation is also incorporated throughout the class. No yoga or meditation experience is needed and all levels are welcome. All yoga mats props will be provided by the studio, although students are welcome to bring their own mats and eye pillows.
